This chapter has six goals: recognize key features of the history and physical examination of men with benign prostatic hyperplasia, understand the interpretation and limitations of the prostate-specific antigen test, know the mechanisms of and indications for medications that are used to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy, identify risk factors for erectile dysfunction, and discern the role of testosterone replacement therapy in men with erectile dysfunction.
