Reading and writing difficulties, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other “specific” learning problems, are the norm in ADHD/DAMP/ESSENCE. For many individuals such difficulties overshadow everything from the time they start school. Teachers must receive adequate training on ADHD/DAMP and on the correlation between learning difficulties and attention problems, so that the educational interventions can be adapted appropriately.
