ADHD, DAMP and ESSENCE are relatively new terms that have replaced the term MBD, which over the 20th century had grown increasingly watered-down. In most of the world, the term ADHD is now used, although this only emphasizes one component – the attention deficit/hyperactivity – in the complex of problems that characterize children with “MBD problems”.
