This chapter discusses criteria for prognostication in postresuscitation anoxic-ischemic coma. It also discusses the pathophysiologic changes associated with cardiac arrest and resuscitation. With the frequent use of therapeutic hypothermia, prognosticators have been examined for their value. This chapter provides a practical template for evaluation of the patient suspected of anoxic-ischemic brain injury.
