Vitiligo is a chronic disorder that is characterized by a complete absence of melanocytes in the epidermis. It presents initially with white macules that can enlarge and eventually affect the entire skin. Different treatments for vitiligo have been attempted throughout history, although most have been inadequate.While reference to vitiligo dates back centuries, there is still much to be learned about the pathophysiology, pathogenesis and treatment of this very common skin condition.
