Case 50 introduces a 20-year-old male college football player with severe pain in his right leg. He reports that earlier in the day, while he was playing in a game, an opposing player tackled him and the player's helmet struck him forcefully in the front of the leg, about halfway between his knee and his ankle. After the game, the leg pain continued and became more intense. The pain was much more severe than seemed consistent with the injury that he had suffered. He describes a deep, burning pain in his leg and says that his leg feels tight.
