Case 28 introduces a 71-year-old man with a 2-day history of diffuse pruritus. The patient states that he was well until approximately 2 days ago, when he first noted mild itching, principally on his trunk. The pruritus has progressed so that it is now severe and diffuse. His sleep last night was disturbed, and he is having difficulty concentrating.
