Case 17 introduces a 3-year-old boy who is brought to the emergency department by his mother. He is crying and appears cyanotic. The mother reports that the boy fell while running outside, scraped his knee, and began to cry. She reports that as he continued to cry, his lips became blue, followed by his fingers. He has had no recent upper respiratory infections and has no history of asthma.
