Homeopathy is a whole body system founded by Hahnemann in the late 1700’s based on the concept of giving infinitesimal small doses of substances (“similars”) that in toxic or large doses cause disease symptoms identical or very similar to a patients symptoms of presentation. In the USA, homeopathic meds are FDA regulated and widely used in Europe in both university teaching, integrative and conventional settings. Prescribing these safe treatments either as first line or in combination with conventional therapies allows a complimentary or integrative approach to many acute (nausea, fever, acute pharyngitis and viral syndrome) and chronic conditions (Hypertension, vascular claudication, arthritis). Homeopathy gives the integrative practitioner and the patient options. For men, this is another excellent modality to treat aches, sprains related to physical activity and musculoskeletal symptoms from both chronic and acute forms of arthritis such as gout. Men’s health issues including BPH, prostatitis, & testicular disorders may be treated with a homeopathic approach. Homeopathy combined with TCM and acupuncture form a powerful synchronistic set of modalities enhancing therapeutic benefits and minimizing side effects. This discipline is truly an outstanding integrative whole system approach that men and their respective practitioners should strongly consider as a therapeutic option.
