Antimicrobials include the following agents: antibacterials (eg, penicillins, cephalosporins), antifungals (eg, acyclovir, amandtadine), antivirals (eg, azoles, polyenes), and antimycobacterials (eg, isoniazid, rifabutin). Specific agents, mechanisms of action, spectrums of activity, toxicities, and major routes of elimination are discussed for all antimicrobial classes.
