Severe burn injury evokes a significant inflammatory response in the patient proportionalto the size of the cutaneous injury. Early mortality may be attributedto inability to control the airway as well as failures of initial resuscitation. Earlyexcision and grafting is essential to halt the ensuing inflammatory response andimprove patient survival.
