17-year-old with swelling near left mandibular angle.

Axial contrast-enhanced CT reveals a homogeneous, fluid-attenuation mass (C) just anterior and medial to the sternocleidomastoid muscle (arrowhead).

The differential includes lateral cystic masses such as lymphatic malformation and suppurative or necrotic lymph nodes. Multiple septations would favor the former and adjacent confluent adenopathy would support the latter....
