Chapter 7 discusses how the white matter of the brain can be affected by a number of infectious diseases, the majority of which are caused by viruses, and goes on to discuss the frequent involvement of myelin in pathogenesis, which has invited comparison with multiple sclerosis (MS) and related disorders.
