This section will explore the technical aspects of imaging the vascular system and review the imaging features of extra-cranial vascular pathology. Non-invasive imaging is the initial step in the diagnosis and differentiation of many vascular diseases. MR is well suited for imaging vascular pathology as it delivers high-resolution anatomic imaging of the vasculature and provides physiologic information with regard to blood flow and perfusion, all without exposing the patient to ionizing radiation.
