Case 12c: A 72-year-old woman with a history of hypertension and osteoarthritis underwent a total knee replacement of the right knee. Six months later she presented with severe pain, swelling, and warmth of the right knee for 2 days. She also had shaking chills, subjective fevers and progression of the pain to the point that it was limiting her ability to stand or ambulate.
