Chapter 6 discusses the epidemiology of autism and the question of if its prevalence is increasing, and addresses the major epidemiological studies performed in the field of the autisms (including so-called autism spectrum disorders, or ASDs), referring only to studies published in the English language and meeting certain criteria for inclusion.
