This chapter describes the use of epicardial pacing in the postoperative cardiac surgery patient. It gives general information on the indications for the use of temporary pacing and different pacing modes. There is specific guidance on antitachycardia pacing. The chapter includes a troubleshooting section including failure to pace, failure to capture, and failure to sense. Mandatory checks are outlined and complications are described.
