This chapter aims to share with the reader a selection of paediatric rheumatology publications that hopefully serve to showcase this sub-speciality from its inception through to the modern day; the papers range from Ansell and Bywaters’ seminal study, which set the scene for randomized clinical trials undertaken to assess the efficacy of treatment in juvenile arthritis patients, to Rettig and Atherya’s landmark paper on adolescent rheumatology. For each paper that was chosen for this chapter, there were numerous other papers that could also have been included, and some of these are referenced. The hope is that this chapter provides the reader with a flavour of the history of paediatric rheumatology, and an appetite to read more.
