(p. 217) Regional disorders
Good quality clinical examination is an essential part of rewarding and successful musculoskeletal practice. It will provide a correct diagnosis upon which a management plan may then be formulated, in the majority of cases without the need for further investigation. Treatment may then be commenced speedily, with the whole process proving to be cost effective. Some aspects of the examination are generic, while others are specific to particular body regions. Sometimes a full examination is needed, whereas on other occasions an abbreviated version will suffice. This chapter describes an effective and efficient system of clinical examination that is applicable in a wide variety of settings.
