The chapters in Section 6 address the principles of risk reduction for breast cancer, colorectal and gastric cancer and gynaecological cancers. Chemoprevention and surgery are the main approaches discussed and the involvement of the multidisciplinary team in decision-making and patient support is emphasised. This chapter summarises the material presented in the chapters of Section 6 and offers a number of guided activities, several of which concern the way in which the issues presented are dealt with by the media and online, as well as practical ideas on how to improve the advice given to patients. Some further resources are also included.
