The chapters in Section 5 deliver a balanced account of the issues pertinent to the early detection of cancer for people in the general population and those at risk of hereditary cancer due to a cancer family history. Chapter 17 begins with clear and concise definitions of the aims and standards associated with cancer screening for the early detection of cancer. Then Chapters 18–20 examine the particular issues associated with breast cancer, colorectal and gastric cancer, and ovarian and endometrial cancer. This chapter provides some guided activities based on the material presented in these chapters and some further supporting information.
