Chapter 19 discusses nanotechnology and nanomaterials, synthetic nanomaterials, the need to investigate the risks posed by new technologies such as nanotechnology, uses of nanomaterials that might lead to human or environmental exposure, concerns about nanomaterials, the different physical and chemical characteristics of nanomaterials that might influence their biological reactivity, and how models that can be used to assess nanomaterial hazard.
