Skin can display a vast range of signs and reaction patterns that can give clues to systemic disease as well as primary dermatological conditions. Diagnostic clues can be obtained from the nature of the lesions and its growth pattern, their distribution and associated symptoms. This chapter describes the different layers of the skin before focusing on characteristic patterns and features of different skin conditions and how they relate to pathology in these layers.
