Several mono- and combination treatments are available for LUTS/BPH

The risk/benefit ratio for each treatment depends on the patient to be treated

α‎-blockers provide rapid and effective symptom relief but do not prevent long-term complications

5α‎-reductase inhibitors provide effective symptom relief and prevent long-term complications but work slower and effects on symptoms are smaller than those of α‎-blockers in most patients.
