Methodology comprises ‘The system of principles, practices and procedures as applied to a specific branch of knowledge.’ That is, methodology is both the methods — the specific procedures of a field — and the assumptions, rationale and patterns of behaviour that underlie those procedures. Methodology is the framework of a field, and a new field such as spirituality and healthcare (SaH) needs time for methodology to develop and mature.
