Chapter 1 describes the cloning of the full-length hGAT-2 and the pharmacological characterization of the transporter using a number of standard GABA transporter substrates and inhibitors. Furthermore, we have performed a screening of a small commercial compound library with the objective of identifying subtype-selective ligands for GAT-2.
