Chapter 22 discusses the role parenteral nutrition (PN) has in selected patients, and also covers where it fits into the management algorithm of patients requiring nutritional support. Also addressed are the indications for surgical palliation and gastrointestinal stents in the management of patients with advanced or unresectable cancer to facilitate more effective nutritional intake.
