Chapter 18 discusses how the comprehensive education of a dietician, not only in areas of diet, foods and nutrition, but also in counselling, psychosocial aspects of health, economics, physiology and chemistry, lends a unique blend of knowledge and expertise that can be communicated to both the patient and the patient's family members. This unique expertise both distinguishes and establishes the dietician as a key member of the health care team.
