Chapter 3 discusses the use of standardized, comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment. While this is beneficial, especially for targeted populations of frail older people, it is also time-consuming and impractical for everyday use. In contrast, the focus in the chapter is to provide guidance to the general practitioner on key points that can be covered during a brief, focused consultation.
