Chapter 10 focuses on diabetes, a common problem with significant morbidity and mortality and which can be well managed in primary care. Thyroid disease and Addison disease are also covered. Diabetes in elderly people has special problems such as residential care and dementia, as well as the great variability of the subjects and the presence of multiple comorbidities which can influence diabetes treatments and priorities.
