Pain is highly prevalent in the elderly. However, this condition is frequently underdiagnosed and undertreated due to an under-reporting of symptoms, the lack of knowledge about pain management in the elderly, polypharmacy and drug interactions, and side effects associated with pain medications. This chapter discusses the integrative approach to pain management, focusing mostly on acupuncture as a treatment for pain and other comorbid chronic conditions in older adults. It offers a perspective on integrative medicine use for management of pain in the elderly.
