Caregiver burden is defined as a state in which an individual is experiencing physical, emotional, and/or financial strain in the process of caring for another, which can occur when care demands outweigh available resources. Understanding the family burden experience requires good communication with the cancer professional and the caregiver. Caregiver-burden outcomes should be established and clinical practice guidelines used for management.
