Nipple-areola Reconstruction. Nipple-areola reconstruction can substantially improve the final cosmetic result of a breast reconstruction. This chapter details the timing of surgery, marking of the intended site of reconstruction and pre-operative consent issues warranting clear discussion with the patient. The chapter outlines the commonly used procedures for nipple reconstruction including c-v, star and skate flaps and free nipple/composite grafts. Tattooing of the nipple and areola and its likely outcomes are also discussed.
