Ultrasound guidance has become a standard of care when undertaking vascular access for central venous cannulation and is increasingly used for peripheral procedures in challenging patients. This chapter describes how to use ultrasound to guide central venous, peripheral venous, and arterial cannulation, using both in-plane and out-of-plane techniques. The sonoanatomy of common areas for vascular access are described and any pitfalls highlighted.
