This chapter explains the general principles of topical treatment and provides guidance on the use of moisturizers and soap substitutes, topical corticosteroids, occlusion, soaks, wet dressings, and 'wet wraps'. Guidance is provided for the use of systemic drugs in dermatology, including commonly used immunosuppressants, oral glucocorticoids, and biologic drugs.
