This chapter discusses the genetic basis of skin disease, including mosaicism and Blaschko's lines, and provides an introduction to the diagnosis and molecular basis of some of the common and important genodermatoses. Topics include epidermolysis bullosa, the ichthyoses, Darier disease, Hailey-Hailey disease, palmoplantar keratodermas, erythrokeratoderma, ectodermal dysplasias, and incontinentia pigmenti.
