Aspergillosis, a fungal infection, encompasses a wide spectrum of diseases, commonly affecting immunocompromised individuals. Any organ can be involved, with the lungs being most prominent (aspergilloma, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, invasive aspergillosis, and chronic necrotizing pulmonary aspergillosis). Infection is often difficult to detect, and mortality rates are high, depending on which organs are affected. Earlier treatment improves the likelihood of success, but eradication remains very difficult.
