Eight case studies are provided in this chapter to show different patients with fibromyalgia syndrome. The purpose of these cases is to illustrate the heterogeneity of fibromyalgia syndrome. Learning points are provided in each case to help clinicians to diagnose and manage patients with fibromyalgia syndrome. These cases are: (1) a typical case of fibromyalgia syndrome; (2) secondary fibromyalgia syndrome; (3) confusion with inflammatory arthritis; (4) overlap with chronic fatigue syndrome; (5) chronic localized pain and fibromyalgia syndrome; (6) a subtype of fibromyalgia syndrome (low levels of depression and anxiety, normal cognition, tenderness); (7) a subtype of fibromyalgia syndrome (high level of tenderness and depression); and (8) a subtype of fibromyalgia syndrome (tender, no negative psychological or cognitive factors).
