Patient simulation provides opportunities for teaching and assessing a variety of clinical skills associated with respiratory function and patient care. No single patient simulator currently provides all the features required to assess patient respiratory function or assess the effectiveness of respiratory care or therapies. Nearly all simulators are designed to focus on a narrow range of tasks and the principles of these features are reviewed against requirements for clinician teaching, clinician assessment, and patient care.
