This chapter contains information about babies needing extra observation and support, including transitional care. Also assessment and management of common post-natal ward problems is described, including dysmorphic babies and Down’s syndrome, congenital naevi and rashes, babies of drug-using mothers and neonatal abstinence, developmental dysplasia of the hip, spinal abnormalities, Erb’s palsy, and talipes equinovarus.
