This chapter describes core skills, practice issues, and delivery models for safe and effective mental health nursing care. Core skills are those that mental health nurses will be expected to use routinely. They are central to mental health nursing practice, and include skills that address specific and often challenging issues encountered when caring for people diagnosed with common mental health problems, and also when providing care for those coping with specific circumstances, such as homelessness.
