Chapter 33 discusses pediatric bipolar disorder (BD), a complex neuropsychiatric illness that has attracted a great deal of clinical and research interest due to its overwhelming impact on public health. It also discusses how the onset of BD during childhood has a significant impact on emotional development and overall functioning, as well as assessment and treatment of this condition.
