M.leprae is infectious particularly in children; adults have poor infection transmission. M.leprae has a predilection for neural tissue, particularly the peripheral nervous system. The bacilli enter by the endoneural blood vessels and attach to cells. The subsequent histological changes in the nerves depends on the immune status....
