Acute otitis externa, also known as swimmer’s ear, is an infection of the external auditory canal. A moist environment, eczematous dermatitis, repeated insertion of foreign bodies (eg, cotton swabs), and psoriasis can predispose to otitis externa. Most patients present with otalgia and otorrhea.
