Since the mid 2000s, cardiovascular disease has been the leading cause of death among Americans. A large proportion of that mortality is from fatal arrhythmias. Arrhythmias are an important complication of acute coronary syndromes and can be clinically challenging to manage. The cornerstone of treatment of ventricular arrhythmia is early electrical cardioversion or defibrillation with adjuvant suppressant pharmacology therapy.
