Acute spinal cord compression is a neurologic emergency. Recognition of spinal cord compression, urgent imaging, and treatment are important to preserve neurologic function. This chapter reviews the causes and clinical approach to spinal cord compression. Spinal cord trauma, a common cause of spinal cord compression, is also reviewed in detail.
