The prescription of CRRT-related fluid management and its integration into overall patient fluid management can be assisted by a specific order chart (Table 5.1) for the machine fluid balance. The above order chart will tell the nurse how to set the machine and how to achieve the planned hourly fluid balance. However in ICU, the fluid needs of the patients are not static and require frequent review. Patients often receive large volumes of obligatory oral and intravenous fluids daily that also need to be accounted for when making fluid balance calculations.
