Anxiety disorders are among the most frequent psychiatric ailments in US adults, with lifetime and 12-month prevalence rates of 29% and 18%, respectively. Nearly 30 million people are affected in the United States, with females affected nearly twice as frequently as males. Anxiety disorders and their treatment are discussed in this chapter.
