Chapter 9 discusses the conceptualization of ‘therapeutic skills’ and ‘therapeutic expectations’ and how these are rapidly changing all over the world. The traditional application of therapeutic skills is no longer based on the ‘psychodynamic model’ or the ‘socio-rehabilitation approach’; nowadays, a more advanced biopsychosocial model is the one that most often prevails around the world; however, we must also be fully aware that this model is also very much impacted by ‘culture’, ‘race’, and ‘ethnicity’.
