Humans are unique in the extent to which the brain changes with age. The process of normal ageing causes changes in appearance that are very similar to those found in Alzheimer's disease, and there is a considerable overlap between the findings in healthy brains and those from people with dementia. Apart from a few reports in other higher primates such as chimpanzees these appearances have never been found in other species....
